This. Took. Forever.
No lie, I spent more time on the lineart for the rose trellises (especially the left one) alone than I do on most whole drawings. And then I had to scan it three times for the computer to let me high-definition it.
But I'm really, really happy with it. I love everything about it except for a few coloring slips. I like the colors, the design, the lineart, everything. It came out just the way I imagined it.
On the background angle, it's a Beauty and the Beast thing. The girl's Beauty, in the Beast's rose garden. I've had that on the mind lately because I'm reading a retelling and writing a poem on the Disney version right now.
The handcuff idea came from my brother's toy ones. I was messing around with them, and I put them on, but they were half-broken, so I wandered around half-handcuffed for a while.
Then I thought about the way Beauty promised to stay with the Beast forever, and how she was technically a prisoner. But not really, because she was happy there. And from that thought, this picture was born.
Please, please, please give me feedback! I absolutely adore this picture, and I want to know if you guys do, too!

I really liked this. I find a sort of symbolism I don't find in most art. The handcuffs brilliant, that's just BEAUTIFUL.'s so thin and tall just gives me a certain air that I only get when I about birds and flying.
